On 11 October 2024, the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Polish Shipowners’ Association was held at the headquarters of Chipolbrok – China-Poland Shipbuilding Association SA.

The attendees held a discussion and passed relevant resolutions regarding the new level of membership fees. The budget for 2025 was then discussed. ZAP members also discussed the strategy and level of active participation of the Polish Shipowners’ Association in ECSA. In particular, ZAP’s involvement in specific areas of interest to ECSA and national shipping companies was discussed.

The Chairman of the Assembly reported on the work on the draft statutory solutions for seafarers’ social insurance. He also discussed, among other things, the proceedings of the tripartite team meeting which discussed the issue.

On the same day, commemorative awards were presented at the ‘Joint Duck’ gala, with more than 2,000 guests in attendance. The main award – the ‘Amber Duck’ – went to the Polish Shipowners’ Association (ZAP) and the Polish Shipping Companies Association (PZPÅ»). This honoured the initiative to merge the two organisations under the banner of the Polish Shipping Association (PSA). As part of this joint organisation, the PSA became a member of the European Community Shipowners’ Association (ECSA) on 1 January 2024.

Representing ZAP, Marcin Talwik said : ‘I would like to thank you for appreciating the initiative to integrate the shipping community with the aim of joint representation in the European forum. I have personal satisfaction that together with Darek Jellonnek, President of the PZPŻ, we have managed to go beyond our associational particularisms and limitations to create a platform defending the interests of the shipping industry in a broader context. I hope to explore further areas that can bring together national shipowners and shipmanagement companies from all over the Polish coast.
