On March 30, 2026, an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Polish Shipowners’ Association was held in Szczecin. During the meeting, a resolution was adopted for the ZAP, together with the Polish Association of Shipping Entrepreneurs (PZPŻ), to join the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS).

The International Chamber of Shipping is a global organisation representing national shipowners’ associations and ship operators. Established in 1921, its member organisations represent companies operating more than 80% of the world’s merchant fleet. ICS represents the shipping industry before international institutions, in particular the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and the International Labour Organization (ILO). Its work covers technical, legal, employment, environmental and commercial matters relating to international shipping.

Membership enables national shipowners’ associations to participate in the work of the ICS Board, committees and expert panels, which help shape the positions of the global shipping industry. It also provides access to expert support, technical information, regulatory analysis and ICS industry publications.

Joining ICS will strengthen the representation of Polish shipping interests at the international level and enable ZAP to participate directly in developing industry positions on the most important challenges facing global maritime transport.
