Dr Eng. Capt. Bogumił Łączyński passed away
We have received with sadness the news of the death of Dr. Eng. Captain Bogumił Łączyński – former Vice-President of the Polish Shipowners’ Association.
Captain Bogumił Łączyński took a very active part in ZAP’s work and Polish shipowners benefited greatly from his vast knowledge and experience.
Captain Bogumił Łączyński throughout his life was associated with the Maritime University in Gdynia, where he conducted didactic and educational activities for many generations of officers and sailors. He was the supervisor of more than 200 master’s and engineering theses and the author of about 200 publications on the maritime industry.
His extensive knowledge of ship operation and management was particularly respected. This was reflected in his contribution to the development of modern laboratory concepts and loading process simulators. Many captains also remember him from training courses in Iława, where he was deputy director of the Research and Training Centre for Ship Manoeuvring.
